An industrial firm with large purchasing volumes approached us to develop a strategy to save costs by optimising the procurement process. In a first step, ARACON consultants set up a database to get an overview of the purchase structure, to categorise purchases and to identify the categories with the highest savings potential. To tackle those categories, in-house purchasing agents and technicians were involved in defining concrete optimisation measures (in terms of purchasing organisation, ordering process, delivery, tendering procedures, prices and conditions etc.). Finally, an implementation and monitoring plan were set up.
Our systematic optimisation programme and strict impact controlling achieved an average cost saving of 15 percent.
